Redesigning a Game Menu UI

Figma Prototype
This two-part UX project focused on analyzing and redesigning Fortnite's current main menu UI with an emphasis on the Play tab. Through multiple user and stakeholder interviews, I identified key pain points in the interface, such as cluttered navigation, lack of visual hierarchy, and inconsistencies across different platforms. The redesign proposal aims to make the experience more intuitive by reorganizing the game mode layout, clarifying categories, and reducing visual noise while preserving Fortnite's identity as a hub for multiple game modes. The final report breaks down the research process, user feedback, design solutions, and production plan that would make this redesign feasible within a single Fortnite season.
Game Menu UI Redesign Pivot
Following Disney's $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games, this pivot expanded upon my initial Fortnite menu redesign to integrate Disney's new metaverse vision. The goal was to create a dedicated Disney section within the main menu that highlighted Disney game modes and cosmetics, without overcrowding the core Fortnite experience. This iteration refined the previous layout to balance user needs with business goals, adding branding, accessibility, and structural considerations that aligned both companies' interests. The results section includes user and stakeholder feedback gather after the redesign, highlighting how the pivot successfully improved menu clarity and engagement while revealing new opportunities for customization and brand cohesion.
